It's done.

Wow, it went by so quickly. I've learned, I've grown, and I know how to continue my artistic path from here with the tools I've been given.

Yeah. It's a lot to take in.

If you have questions about the program or my past year in general, just contact me; I'd be glad to get together and chat.

I expect to be back in Minneapolis Thursday evening.

I forgot to mention--

Our new classes for the last three weeks are Moliere (scenes from The Misanthrope), ballroom dancing, and Commedia.

And today we have a day-long seminar with this guy, so I'd better get ready for school.

WHAT?! He lives?

I do indeed.

If you hadn't guessed, I was none too pleased at the casting situation for the ACA's final repertory productions. And I thought this would not be an appropriate forum to vent. Plus a spring break trip home followed immediately by six day work weeks with long days made this the last thing I was thinking about. But now my time in DC is almost over and I would like to end on a good note.

Our productions (which I totally called) are Much Ado About Nothing—Shakespeare...der, and 'Tis Pity She's A Whore by John Ford. In Much Ado I play an amalgamation of Conrade and Balthasar whom we call Conrade. After five weeks trying to make sense of the idea, an understanding was reached that I believe makes sense. But best of all, I wrote the music for the show and I've received many kind compliments.

Here are some brief samples:

Ah, I suppose I just gave away that theatreprorata.com is turning into theatreprorata.org (we are a non-profit after all). Both sites and e-mails will work for a while--we'll send out proper notification to switch stuff soon.

In 'Tis Pity I play Friar Bonaventura. 'Tis Pity bears many similarities to Romeo & Juliet, so think Friar Lawrence. Yeah, I'm pretty young for the role, but that's academic theater for you...at least I have a few nice speeches.

I'll post some pics of me in costume soon.

The shows close next saturday and then we have two final weeks of classes.

briefly

Maria's High Comedy class is fantastic. Yet unfortunately it is another example of having to stop just as we're getting into it. We've been meeting with her every afternoon and working scenes book-in-hand while she gives us guidance, notes, and ideas. Tomorrow is our last day with her and we'll try to get through as many scenes as we can. I am slated to do Charles from Blithe Spirit and Mirabell from The Way of the World.

AND--tomorrow they will post our summer semester repertory shows and casting. 'Tis Pity She's a Whore is pretty much a shoe-in at this point, but the Shakespeare is anyone's guess, with Much Ado being favored likely by some. Hold your breath, cross your fingers, think of your favorite play and I'll let you know soon.
